hello!

I recently got marreid to my canadian wife, and we are eager to begin our application for PR for myself. It is my understanding, that she needs to apply to be a sponsor first. So if that is the case, she submits only that part of the application until she is approved, then we send the rest? Or am I missing something?

No - you need to submit both parts of the application together (both the sponsor and applicant sections). If you only submit the sponsor section, your application will be returned to you as incomplete.

As scylla said, you need to submit both sponsor and applicant section together including all the supporting documents.

Send them together. I put the checklist for sponsor on top and then used the applicant checklist and copies of our passports to divide between sponsor and applicant info. Everything must be sent together to CPC-M, even though they just process the sponsor approval and forward it on. This includes all proofs of relationship, residence, etc and everything else requested on both checklists.
