I'm a Canadian Permanent Resident currently working in the US on a H1B visa.My wife is in the US with me on a dependent H4 Visa. I got my Canadian Permanent residency before my marriage and hence my wife does not have the Canadian permanent residency. My question is
(a) If I decide to move to Canada from the US, can my wife accompany me on a visitor visa? After Landing in Canada, can I apply for my wife's Permanent Residency while my wife is living with me in Canada?
(b) In order to retain the Canadian Permanent residency, I know that you need to live in Canada for at least 2 years in the preceding 5 year period. In my case I still have 2 and half years of Permanent residency left. Out of the 2 and half years I need to live in Canada for 2 years. If my wife accompanies me to Canada and say she gets her Permanent residency after 1 year, then will she get the Permanent residency for just 1 and half years(duration of my permanent residency) or for 5 years? If she gets it for only 1 and half years, then when she is renewing the Permanent residency, she would have lived in Canada for only 1 and half years in the preceding 5 years. How will the renewal process work?
Thank you very much
