You definitely need a passport for ielts. You can't proceed with the visa application without it. You would need to get asylum from another country or voluntarily leave from the U.K. And get your passport back from the home office at the airport.

Yep - good point. You can't write IELTS without a passport.

I'm asylum seeker in uk and I had ielts exam before one month ago and without a passport, I used the ARC ID that is provided by the home office for the asylum seekers.

With all my respect my friend, but I think you are wrong regarding ielts exam.

I had an Ielts exam without a passport before one month ago, They accepted my ARC card that is provided by the UK Home Office for the asylum seekers.
