Hi Julia, I'd also like to know that too. I'm applying for extension of visitor visa since it's expiring on June 18th. I'm from Singapore, visiting my boyfriend who's Canadian, and the plan is to stay here as long as possible.. Marriage isn't an option now as we really don't want visa-type reasons behind it, so we're thinking of applying for common-law partnership visa when we've lived together for a year.

Work wise, I'm not employed in Canada (obviously illegal to work here as a visitor) but Im holding a freelance job as a Web Content Editor, working for my previous company based in Singapore. I'm currently staying with my boyfriend and his parents (it's his parents place), so can I mention that his parents are offering acccomodation? Although I'm not sure how I can prove I have sufficient funds to stay here. I obviously get my paycheck monthly so that's a flow of 'income' I have to sustain my stay here for six months.. Does this make sense..?

I'd appreciate any help / opinion.. thanks so much!!

You need to show finanical proof of how you are going to be supporting yourself when you apply to extend a visitor visa.

You can have a letter written by your boyfriend stating that he will be taking complete financial responsibility for you while you are here. That is what I did with my wife while we were waiting for the PR visa to be issued. Have him state that he is working and what company he is working for.

Agree. Better than just his statement, have him get a letter from his employer to confirm this fact.
