Hi,
At first I got accepted at McGill (Montreal) for only the fall semester, so I didn't get a CAQ/Study permit. Today I heard that I am allowed to stay for the next term as well, but that I have to start the procedure for getting a CAQ and Study permit directly.
Until so far it is a bit confusing, I hope someone can help me out:

1) I am Dutch, but the Canadian embassy in Holland isn't doing any immigartion stuff, Vienna took it over. I thought that I would have to send my application for Study permit to Vienna, but today at International Student Services a girl told me I can send it to the US. Does any know where I have to send it/what is best?

2) I have to get a CAQ first - it says that it takes about 20 business days on the site. Do they count from the moment you send your online application, or the moment they received everything (so also the acceptance letter etc. you have to send them by mail)? And when can you exactly start applying for the study permit? (I read something that you can start applying for study permit when you have received a certain letter - but I could not find how long this usually takes)

3) I want to go home for Christmas and come back here around january 5. From your experiences: do you think this is risky? I am afraid I won't have my study permit on time and won't be allowed to come back into Canada without it. Any thoughts about this?

Hope someone can help me!
