Hi everyone,

After finishing my 3 years diploma in Ottawa, I got PGWP that was valid for only one year because my passport was expiring in one year as well. I renewed my passport over the summer and sent an application to CIC to request that they extend my PGWP for the period remaining of the 3 years I was suppose to have initially. They received my application on October 18th 2014, and I haven't got my new work permit yet.

Any ideas you guys can share?

Did you check the processing times here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp.asp

Yes I did. I just thought PGWP have different time lines, I remember seeing a page where it said it took 45 days for paper application to be processed.

I'm just worried as my current work permit expires on December 18, 2014. and my employer can't keep me if I have expired work permit.

Would I fall under implied status since I have already sent my application??

Yes, you would have implied status.

Yes, you would have implied status.

Thanks, for your reply, how can I prove to my employer that I have implied status?. Does CIC provide any documentation to prove it?

thanks

No - CIC does not provide any documentation.
