Hey Everyone,

Looking for some advice before I apply to extend my status as a visitor yet again. Any information would be helpful.

Some background:

Initially I applied for PR under CEC in October 2011, while waiting for the PR outcome, my post grad work permit was due to expire in May 2012. Seeing no option I applied to extend my status as a visitor stating the reason that i was waiting for my PR, at this time i stopped working when the work permit expired.

A couple of weeks after I stopped working I received the extended status as a visitor valid from June 2012-Dec 2012. I also received a refusal email for my PR.

I decided to re-apply for my PR in June 2012 under CEC with corrections. Now while waiting for this 2nd PR application outcome, my extended status as a visitor was due to expire on Dec 31st 2012. I therefore applied to renew this status by stating i was waiting for my new PR application. I applied in Nov 2012 and received a response 4 months later in March 2013. They issued it only for 1 month i.e from March 1st 2013-April 1 2013!

Clearly the 15 months processing time for the CEC application if submitted on June 2012 is until Sept 2013. However this status is issued only until April 2013. Perhaps because they already issued me 6 months for the old pr application? Could they be confused about 2 separate PR application processing times?

I have no option but to re-apply to extend my status as a visitor (4 month processing time) and remain on implied status for another 4 months which gives me until July. Should I receive a refusal after that then I have 90 days to leave before which I hope this PR will be sorted or if they give me some more time that's great.

When re-applying I am thinking I should explain there were 2 applications and different processing times. I somehow feel this is not a very strong re application for some reason. Does anyone have any idea as to how this works?

Am I missing something and is this the best route to go under these circumstances? Is there a rule as to why they gave me just one month? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I suppose I have to go this one alone. ::)

Did you consider calling and asking if this was a mistake?
