Extending my mother's 4 year visitor visa

Hi everyone,

I came to Canada as a student and at the time I applied for a visitor visa for my mother and she received one that was valid for about 4 years. It's about to expire now and I would like to extend it but she won't be coming to Canada until next year.

If I apply for an extension will her visa be extended only for 6 months or it might be for some years again? Is it better to let her visa expire and apply again?

You can't extend it. She will have to apply for a brand new visa.
