Has anyone here extended your bridging open work permit and was approved?

Here is my story:
I am January 2013 applicant with BOWP and I am 28 wks pregnant (due in March 2014).
Before I received my medical request, I've informed CPP-Ottawa in September that I am expecting and will postpone my chest x-ray till after the baby is born.
2wks ago, I received an email from CPP-Ottawa that they will not issue my medical due to my pregnancy.
2 days ago, I received my GCMS notes. The notes indicates that my eligibility has not been started and my application is on hold due to my pregnancy.

My original plan was to complete medicals with exception of x-ray and finish other necessary documents before the baby is born because my BOWP expires 1.5 months after my baby's due date. However, now that my application is on hold, I do not think I will be getting any further requests from CPP-Ottawa till I submit a birth certificate of my child, and I don't think I'd have enough time left on my BOWP to complete my PR application. I'd like to apply to extend my bridging OWP.

Has anyone successfully extended your BOWP?

Thanks in advance.

No one would give you the answer now I believe as BOWP is 1) relatively new rules, 2) most of ppl got the PPR within the time frame and before the first BOWP is expired, ppl usually got the results.

But, my understanding is that your case is special, as based on OB 485A, it said the extension will be on case by case basis, I think you have strong case to get extended, I would suggest to give a go and attach the email or other correspondence from CIC re the delay with a detailed explanation letter.

Best luck!

I agree with GHD1213, it's a fairly new systems and there probably haven't been a lot of
BOWP extenesions.

But as the OB-485A states,

The WP is to be valid for the duration of one year from the date of issuance. Subsequent requests from applicants to extend their stay on an open WP will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

So if you apply for another BOWP before your current one expires, with an explanation letter why you need
the extension, you should be good.

Thanks, guys.
I will attach an explanation letter with my application to extend my BOWP, and will submit sometime in January.

I just received emails from CPP-Ottawa to under go medicals, bio data and pay RPRF.
So I think I am going to do all these except for chest X-ray.

So out of interest, have you researched that chest x-Ray during pregnancy is ok? The American, Canadian and British medical associations all say that it's extremely low risk.
In fact you get more radiation on a flight from toronto to Vancouver than you do in a chest x-Ray - like 4-5 times more radiation.
I'm also pregnant and did my x-Ray and the baby is doing really well

It's totally your choice but if like me you want your pr sorted ASAP, it's an option :-)

Yes, I've researched it and I am aware that it is completely safe nowadays :) It is my doctor who is not agreeing with me undergoing chest X-ray:'(
I am already having a high-risk pregnancy and my doctor recommends that I should postpone it till March, unless it is life-threatening.

Getting a PR right now will be a huge relief on my mind but delivering a healthy baby is more important than getting a PR.
