Following the death of my wife, my sister, aged 68, came to Canada for the funeral on a British passport which gives her a six month stay before she has to return to Cyprus, her country of residence.

Because of my condition, I am 72 and in remission from cancer, am diabetic and depending on insulin as well as various other seriously considered aliments, I am no longer able to look after myself and need special diet meals which I have failed to cook for myself but which my sister can do for me, she decided to stay but it is approaching the end of 6 months and as she is my only living relative, as I am hers, we have been advised to apply for an extension on humanitarian grounds. My doctor has advised her to stay and will support an application with a letter regarding my condition, if that is necessary.

I know she requires proof of no criminal record and this has been obtained from Britain but is still awaited from Cyprus and may not arrive in time for the submitting of the paperwork to Canadian immigration.

What are the chances of a refusal to stay as I find the paperwork difficult to follow and should be grateful for any assistance and advice.
