Extending a CUAET WP longer than the initial 3 years

Hi everyone,

I am writing on behalf of my friend. He came here from Ukraine 1.5 years, so he only has 1.5 years left on his permit. On the IRCC website listed below, it says that March 31st is the last day for him to extend his WP. Can he extend his WP for another 3 years, so that he would be here for a total of 4.5 years, or is it a 3 year max for CUAETs?

I don't believe extensions are possible right now beyond the 3 years. Suggest posting this question here:

Would suggest he takes steps try to secure PR while waiting to see what will happen to Ukrainians who have come to Canada. In general there is a huge bottleneck in the PR system so many groups will be pushing to try and extend WPs. Very tough to say what governments may do with all competing groups and assume there is a very good chance another party will be in power at that time.
