Extended Visitor Visa?

Hey everyone. My wife came to Canada on a visitor visa valid through December 2020. As we all know, the pandemic kind of screwed almost everything up. We’ve called the border countless times in the past few months, called IIRC countless times in the past few months and no answers other than that they are closed.

Does anyone know if the visitor visa is extended due to us being not able to apply for an extension? Any info is greatly appreciated .

Why can't you apply to the extension? The application is made online, not at the border or by phone.

When my wife and I crossed over to Canada last December they told us to drop back by the border to extend the visa... but hey. Thank you! I will definitely look into this in the morning

Just to add that currently due to COVID for anyone already in Canada no immigration activity to validate or extend anything is currently possible at any border, so no flagpoling at all. Extending a visit visa online is not a bad option given on implied status for the 3-4 months it might take just to get a decision so apply around the 30 day mark when current authorised stay is due to expire.
