Hi Everyone,

I got invitation today and while I was filling the application forms , I come across couple of things that I need advise on:

1: I have a baby who is born after I applied for express entry, but she is Canadian by birth. We still don't have passport for her, as her birth certificate is still in process. What should i upload in the Proof of travel document for her in the application, can i attach receipts for birth certificate and her healthcard and write a letter of explanation that we don't have these documents available for now? I don't want to wait one month for her documents to come, All of my other documents are already to go.

2: I have a permanent full time job in Canada with one year experience, and i come under CEC category in express entry. But my document check list is asking me for proof of finical support. Do i still need to show funds , even if i have a full time job in Canada? Or can i just attach my pay stubs in that section, as i donot have much to show in my account.
I would really appreciate if someone answer these plz!

How is she Canadian?

I thought a child could only be born Canadian if one or both parents are PR? They don't get Canadian status if parents are just students or on a work permit.

Having a baby in another country doesn't make them a citizen of that country.

Not sure about the first one.

For CEC you don't have to show POF. Just provide your bank statements and explain in a LOE that you are not showing minimum funds as you're classified under CEC. It should be fine.

Seriously, if you were just on a work permit and had a baby and they get Canadian citizenship then I could have done that.

I really don't think that is a thing.

are you kidding me? if you trip and fall into canada for 2 mins and have a baby there, it will be a canadian citizen!

well except if you are a foreign diplomat or working in something like embassies etc ...

That's exactly right, even if you are entered Canada illegally and you have a child born in Canada. The child will be Canadian citizen. Couple of my friends having same status as me had their kids born in Canada and now they have Canadian passport.
Thank you for replying to my second question though, I am seriously thinking to do the same.

Still waiting for someone to give me advise on first question..!

For your first question. You don't need include your baby in your application.
You just need mention as a unaccompanied kid as he/she is already a Canadian citizen.
You can upload birth certificate or its receipt. They should accept it.

Sounds like you haven't done much research.

Born in Canada = Canadian citizen (unless your parents are diplomats).

Well I am genuinely suprised. Seems USA and Canada are the only countries to offer this.

Although I really wasn't ready to have a kid when I was there, I was almost desperate enough to do so.

Wow... Ugh

You do understand that having a Canadian citizen baby gives you absolutely no immigration benefits - yes? Sure, your child is a citizen. But this doesn't make you a citizen or a even PR - and it certainly doesn't give you the right to stay in Canada. The only one with any benefits is your child.

I know that. Once the child is 18 though they can sponsor the parents though.

Not quite that simple.

Yes - they need to be 18. They must also be living in Canada. Additionally, they must be making sufficient income to meet the low income cut off for sponsoring their parents. Last but not least, they must demonstrate that they've met the low income requirement through a job in Canada for the three years before they apply and must prove this through providing Canadian tax returns for these three years. Practically speaking, it's going to be impossible for an 18 year old to apply since this means they would have to have worked and made enough income when they were 14, 15 and 16 years old (the tax return for when they were 17 won't be ready in time to apply).

Dude, I'm not planning on having a kid there just in the hopes of in 18 years I can get PR. I am just shocked that having a kid in Canada automatically gets them citizenship, regardless of where their parents are from.

In honesty though I may go over there and have my child one day on holiday, at least my kid will get an easier immigration ride in the future.
