Hi what is the status of your application? Did they ask for any additional medical documents for your child? I have a child with severe autism and non verbal. I hope you can share your experience. We just got our PR nomination.

Whether it will be an issue is very dependent on where your child falls on the spectrum and if there are medical needs as well. You should be prepared that it may actually be quite difficult and take a long time for your child to access services related to autism. There are very long wait lists, not enough service providers, not enough aides in schools, etc. This has only gotten worse as Alberta’s population has increased dramatically in the past decade. Just finding GP for your family and child may be extremely difficult if not impossible. Do you have family in Alberta? Many have unrealistic expectations of support they will receive in Canada. Also haven’t thought of the challenges they will likely face like finding and paying for after school childcare which becomes more difficult and expensive depending on the special needs of a child, being the sole carer with likely no support for your child after age 21 and the expenses associated if a parent can not work, etc. Don’t want to sound discouraging but many do not research what is actually happening in Canada versus what may be on paper or assume Canada has full Medicare when it is partial.
