Hi,

Just need little help...

So I'm trying to get approved LIMIA as a Food Service Supervisor NOC 6311 for my brother who is living outside of Canada.

This LIMIA will be for FWP which requires $1000 fees etc.

Can we use same LIMIA to apply for EE or LIMIA needs to be specifically for EE? also is this category eligible for EE if applicant is outside Canada? which category he can apply?

Please reply if anyone has any experience in this.

Thanks

LMIA will only award him points. To be eligible in any category your brother needs to have skilled work experience.

Yes he has experience for than 3 years now. just wanna know if regular LIMIA can be used for express entry or express entry LIMIA is different?

There are two types of LMIA:
* Standard LMIA for FWP and for gaining closed work permit $1000
* LMIA for supporting PR application - no fee and no wp

Both will gain points in express entry if used within 6 months from date of issuance.
Please ensure his employment letter for the LMIA position states "permanent full time employee"

Your brother would need to have a valid work permit issued on the basis of his lmia in order to get points. As long as this work permit is valid the points will be granted regardless of how long ago the LMIA was issued or expired.

@ButterflyChemist, WP is not required to get points, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/hire/offers.asp

Thanks guys for the advise

Hello,

my Friend has created a express entry profile on my past Canada work experience (NOC 1253-record technician) as MET only in CEC but now he is working in food industry as Supervisor since last 6 months and his employer is willing to file for LIMA.

is he still eligible for Express entry or do he get 600 points on basis of LMIA ? OR do he need 1 year food industry work experience?

Please suggest your experience.

Thanks

Its hard to link the "My past Canada.." vs "he". Assuming you are referring to a single person here, you can only get 600 points for LMIA for the same profession NOC you qualified for via CEC.

You cannot have one year experience in another profession and qualify CEC but have a job offer in another one with LMIA, not to mention that LMIA approval in such a case is not likely.

Either you only have an LMIA which is valid at the time of PR application submission

OR

You have a valid work permit based upon an LMIA (doesn't matter when the LMIA was issued)

Both of these situations get 600 points
