Hello everyone,

I am on a post-graduate work permit and I am currently working (for a little over a year) on a full time contract job. I have a few questions regarding the "Intended work" sub-category under the "work history" category in my express entry profile:

1) Since I am on a contract job (37 hrs. a week) am I not supposed to say "NO" to the question: Does ******* have a job offer in Canada?

2) One question in this category asks: Is ******* job offer from the employer named on the current work permit?
Since I am on a post graduate work permit, this is an open work permit and I am not sure how to answer this question (Should I say NO?)

3) Another question states: NOC code for current work permit?
Again, my work permit is open and has no NOC code on it. How do I answer this question?

4) My last query is regarding this question: Was a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) issued for the current work permit?
Arn't PGWPs exempt from a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) requirement? My current job does not have an LMIA assessment, in this case (as I am on a PGWP) do I select Yes or No?

Any help will be greatly appreciated! :) :)
Thanks a lot!

Yes, you're supposed to say "no" to that question.

Having a PGWP does not qualify for the requirements needed to have a valid job offer.

You won't be required to answer the other questions.

Cheers :)

Thanks a lot!

1) first question answer should be YES
2) NO
3)"http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/noc.asp" you can find your noc here
4) PGWP are exempt from LMIA, so answer should be no

This is completely incorrect. Working on a PGWP does not mean you have a valid job offer - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/offer.asp

Also, PGWP is not exempt from LMIA (or any open work permit for that fact).

Again, he should answer "no" and move to the next section.

Thanks a lot for your reply!
So, a contract job is not considered as a "valid" job offer?

(Also, here is why I thought PGWP is exempt from LMIA: ww.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/temp/work/opinion/codes.asp)

Thanks a lot again! :)

It has to have the following requirements:

you have a valid work permit for a NOC 0, A or B job that is exempt from needing an LMIA, and you:

are currently working for an employer specified on the work permit
have one year of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work) for that employer and
have a valid job offer from that employer for at least one year after we issue your permanent resident visa.

As you can see you would need a employer specific work permit to qualify for a valid job offer. Since you have an open work permit this is not the case.

Best of luck!
