Quick and more than likely stupid question about the EE process fees.
I see that you need to pay a processing fee of 550 and right to permanent residence fee of 490 per adult and 150 per dependent child.

When are the fees supposed to be paid? Do I pay the 550 when I create the EE profile or when I receive ITA?

Reason I am asking is that I was thinking of creating a second profile for myself as a principal applicant (with lower CRS score) in hope of getting a job offer or PNP due to my IT background. I would however not want to play this lottery if it is gonna cost me another grand and will just stick to one joint EE profile.

Child fee - is that 150 paid twice (processing+PR) or is it a once off fee?

No, only after you get an ITA (invitation to apply) post draw. No fee is payable at the time of creating EE profile.

IMO you can have only one Express Entry profile, do not do anything that will spoil your chances as they are not very forgiving about manipulations and the system will highlight to them what you have done (mapping your passport number and date of birth).

Even so, imo s/he cannot. See http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=864&top=6

You may only have one profile at a time. This is set out in Canada’s immigration law.

Creating more than one profile will not give you a better chance at being invited or allow you to be invited under a different program.

Yes, my spouse as a principal applicant gets more points for education and overall points. I was thinking of creating one with me as principal applicant aimed at a different provincial PNP (IT background)

I was under the impression that is not something that would be against the rules but if you guys say it may I will just leave it and go with a single profile to be honest, don't want to wreck my chances over a stupid mistake to be honest.

It implicitly means you cannot have more than one profile with same primary applicant. It is very much acceptable to be primary and dependant in another.

@hope2018: it also specifically means you cannot have more than one profile with the same applicant. when a spouse is taken into consideration for points, s/he is also considered an 'applicant' . However, there is indeed an area of ambiguity/interpretation here.

@BIG_daddy : Best would be to write to CIC and check with them whether "a secondary applicant in one profile can have another profile as principal applicant". If they write back saying you can, keep the reply safely (incase of any issues in the future) and do accordingly. Do let us know what is the correct interpretation so others in future can be advised accordingly. GL !

If you read carefully I mentioned primary applicant and not just applicant. And you can search other threads where you will find it to be acceptable.

A lot of immigration consultants online say it is fine to create two profiles, will try getting something official from CIC.

I guess many people use that for exact same reasons: different NOC and chance to get into different PNPs.

i shared what my consultant had conveyed to me when I had checked this with him while applying. so i went with one profile and by god's grace got the nomination.

the problem, i am told, is not while creating the profile, but when the draw takes place.

not sure if anyone who has created multiple profiles has got selected. will be interesting to hear from them :-?.

Yes, I totally agree - it is all down to a visa officer in the end. If the rule is not 100% clear they may interpret it differently than someone else...

Wrong. If you're not sure of what you're talking about, simply say you don't know and avoid giving out wrong info. The link you posted is as clear as day.
