As part of the supporting document I need to upload for my eAPR, certain documents are not in English nor in French. Thus I need to provide translation for such documents.
It is my understanding that to comply with CIC requirements, it will be sufficient to provide (electronically) translated documents as follows :
- Original document (Copy or Scan)
- Certified AND Notarized translation of the original document (to either French or English)
It is also my understanding that the same requirement equally applies to all of the documents such as but not limited to: Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Educational Diplomas / Credentials and Police Certificate.
Authentication:
I conclude from the instruction on the CIC website that, irrespective of the country of origin, it is NOT REQUIRED to provide authentication (so called Apostille) to any of the documents concerned. For instance, for the country I am from, should this be required, it would necessitate to have the documents stamped by the relevant ministry (education, foreign affairs, etc) and then legalized by the Canadian embassy to the country I come from. This indeed would complicate and lengthen the process.
The instruction from CIC website are relatively clear in this regard as stated in the completeness check list (general) on CIC website. But they also add:
The instruction guide for Express Entry candidates and applicants (/english/immigrate/skilled/instruction-guide.asp) explains how to meet these requirements. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/instruction-guide.asp
However I am not able to retrieve any further specifics when clicking through the link. I also read through the forum where sometimes conflicting statements make things a little bit confuse.
Anyway I wanted to double confirm with members, it is safe to proceed as I summarized above.
