Hello I will be applying for the express entry program. After receiving my permanent residency, I'm planning on working commissioned based with various travel agencies based in Canada, while operating my own travel tour company between Canada and Africa. Can I retain or count the days I stay abroad for work purposes?

Should be if you are doing so as an employee of a Canadian business.

No - you won't. The time you spend outside of Canada won't be counted towards your PR residency requirement.

To count days outside of Canada towards PR, you must first be hired by a company for a full time job in Canada and then at a later date transferred to a role outside of Canada. You jobs does not meet these requirements.

Hello, thanks for your kind response, truly appreciate it.
I was reading up and found an article by a law firm regarding a similar case. They used an affiliated or contracted company to a canadian company as an example, (also attaching the link below). Additionally, I will be leaving for tours and travels after I'm contracted with these travel agents I'm referring about.

"The interesting part of this exception is that is applies to those who have a contract with a Canadian business as well. So you need not be a full-time employee – you can be a contractor as well working overseas for a Canadian business.

The other interesting part of this exception is that it includes assignments to an affiliated enterprise of the Canadian business or even a client of Canadian business overseas."

All I can comment on is how we have seen the rule applied by CIC to people on this forum time and time again. And based on that, I can tell you that your time outside of Canada won't be counted towards PR.
