I have just realized my visitor extension expired on the 31 December 2021 (2days ago) and I’m truly panicking. I have a applied for PR via Sponsorship and I’m in process, already given biometrics, medical etc. But I forgot to do my extension on time and I don’t know if they will grant me a restoration of status?

Has anyone gone through a similar situation? I’m so scared.

Did you apply inland for spousal sponsorship? Did you include an open work permit with the inland application?

If not, apply to restore your status. It should be granted (of course never guaranteed).

I indeed applied inland but did not apply for an open work permit. I have always been on time with my extensions but this time definitely forgot completely. My husband and children are Canadian citizens and they are small kids still, so I hope that makes any difference but for sure I’ve heard they don’t care about that stuff.

im just panicking right now.

Submit the application to restore your status as soon as you can (while also ensuring it's complete and you put together a good application). You can't turn back time and fix your mistake. So just focus on the restoration application calmly.
