Expired TRV (Temporary Residence Visa

I had an old TRV valid till on the Oct 30th, 2014. I had a Study pemit which was keyed to that same date. But I applied in Sept, 2014 for an extension of study permit before the old one expired and was granted. On December 6th, 2014 I applied for a new or extension on my TRV but had the message below...... Could that message be as a result of my allowing my TRV to expire before I applied for a new one? Please anyone knows what seem to be the matter?

This refers to your application for a visitor record received 12/07/2014. No action is being taken
to process your request for the following reasons:
[X] You are currently in possession of a work permit or a study permit which confers status as a
temporary resident in Canada for the period you have requested. A visitor record is not
required.
[X] As you have submitted $100.00, a refund for $100.00 has been requested on your behalf.
This refund will be issued in the near future. If you have made your payment online your refund
will be reimbursed directly to your credit card. Please note that if another person has paid the
fee on your behalf, the refund will be issued to that person.
NOTE: Passports must be valid for the duration of your stay in Canada. Documents will not be

so u filled that form twice? once for study permit and second time for trv? trv cannot be extended u need to apply for a new trv and not the extension of stay form. extension of stay form is not for trv......

For my Study permit extension, I filled out the IMM5709E. And for my TRV I filled out the IMM5708

you r not on visitors permit...u need a new trv application i cant post the link here ....but search for 5709 and look for this info and a link to trv application
"If you are in Canada and need to extend your Study Permit and renew your Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), submit a separate application for the new TRV to the Case Processing Centre in Ottawa only after CIC has approved the extension of your Study Permit."

yes u filled a wrong form 5708 is for visitors permit extension not a visa extension. like i said above i cant post the link here it wont allow me so search for the info i provided above

CIC has long approved my study permit extension application and I have a valid study permit as of right now. As for my TRV application, it was done online and I paid a fee of $100. I think the online method of application regarding the TRV is the only option available.

There exist the 5257 form and the 5257 schedule 1 form. Which exactly is the right one?

Ok.. I have compared both forms and the IMM5257 states "Application for Visitor's visa (Temporary Resident Visa)" and the IMM5257 schedule 1 states "Application for Temporary Resident Visa. So, I think the later is more appropriate.
