Your only option is to arrive at the Canadian border via the US and plead your case and hope to not get reported. Then you would have to remain in Canada for 2 years. This may work for you not your whole family.

Coming from an Arab family, it is often culturally frowned upon for a young girl to attend college or university alone (at that point I was 17). Although I completely understand your point and agree with it, unfortunately, there was not much I could do at that time.

I am looking to move by myself, my family will not be joining. However, would there be any repercussions to being turned away at the border?

You wouldn't be turned away at the border. You will be allowed to enter no matter what but if reported would need to appeal and could lose your PR within the first 6 months and have to leave.

What If I was able to find a job within this time? What would be the process then?

You'd still have to leave or quit your job and stay as a visitor temporarily. If the employer wanted to hire you they would have to pay and apply for an LMIA and then you would have to apply for a work permit. Employers usually are not interested in pursuing an LMIA and it cam take 4-6 months.

and on the off chance that I am not reported when I enter through the US border, how would I be able to live and work in Canada?

I was in Ontario, stayed there for about a month (August 2013)

You didn't qualify for a health card originally so not sure if you still applied for one. I'm not sure how hard a time you will get getting a health card. I believe others have gotten one with only their landing documents but you may need to argue a bit. Seems to differ depending on the employee.

Alright, what if I decided to apply for a Masters Programme, would I apply as a PR or as a student permit?

As a PR. Yet again you'll have to look at each school because some require a valid PR card. I'd make sure you are able to enter before applying because you could have to leave during the course if you lose your PR.
