Does anyone know how long of a delay you would go through if your medicals have expired.

we did the medicals last spring(we were gunna send out application than but couldnt)
so when we sent it in january 2012. our immigration consultant told us they may expire before we get approved if so they will request new ones.

but now i hear about this new rule within 15 months of getting them they can ask for an extension.
only problem is we dont even know if the VO has received them or not.

we sent our application in january, got approved april 5 than the application was transfered to mexico City.

but since april 5 we havent heard anything from mexico city, no update on ecase, no AOR letter. no emails nothing. so i dont even know if they receieved them within the 15 months or not. so that being said
.
if we have to redo the medicals

does anyone know how long of a delay this will cause??

thanks!!

It depends on how efficient the Regional Medical Office is at getting the results off to the visa offices. I had my PPR call exactly 3 weeks following my second medical.

oh okay, hmm
and when you application was transfered to your VO, how long was it before they requested new medicals?

9 months, at which time they had been expired for a month (this was before the extension rule came in).

o okay
so it seems like they do the rest of the application and wait till close to the end to ask for the new medicals.
hopefully thats what they are doing with us

one more question
did your ecase ever say medicals recieved before they requested new ones?

Yes, the medical is usually the final step, and there has to be a valid one in order for the visa to be issued, because the expiration date of the visa is tied to the date of the medical. I have never seen "medicals received" on my eCAS, actually, at no time either with the original or the renewed one. No decision made, either, come to think of it!

totally depends on the RMO and your VO, yes! We got email to do 2nd medicals a month before they were to expire and after doing it, didn't hear from them for 3 whole months, and that was right after I got my MP to contact them asking if they received it at all. So maybe get your MP to ask them - it's a simple questions for them and it isn't really intrusive so the VO should have no problem responding to that. Give it a shot...

o okay. now im a little less worried because nothing has changed on our ecase either.
thanks for your help!! i guess we will just wait for the medical request and hope it delays a couple weeks!. ;D

o okay!. i was thinking of contacting my MP if we dont hear anyhting soon

but do i contact the MP where i live where i have been living..
because I was born in Alberta, grew up there. but i have been living as a student in BC for 3 years.
i guess i would still contact my MP in alberta because that is still where i legally live?

when you vote, which constituent are you in? find that MP and state your name and address, cause mine asked my address to make sure i indeed lived in that riding. then you have more clout cause you just say you live in his/her riding and you need their help.

well last time i voted, was for prime minister. so that would have been in vancouver.
but the problem is right now i am in mexico for 6 months with my spouse.so i dont have an andress in vancouver anymore.
should i still state that i do because thats where i last voted. or should i state alberta because my drivers license is still alberta with my address there.

hmmm... well u had to submit an address with your application cause u had to be a resident of canada to apply for sponsorship, so whatever address u sent to CIC, that's the address i would use, cause they will most likely reference it when they ask the VO about your case....so find out who the MP is for that address...doesnt' matter if u voted for him/her or not, just that you are a constituent in that riding. they'll never know if u voted for them or not.

O okay yess. sorry for all the questions.
now that i think about it. it would be best to use my MP from alberta, because that is the address on my ID. and my family still lives there and knows the MP and has dealt with him before.
and for our mailing address on the application we put my dads address so he could collect all the mail. so this makes sense to use him

thanks for you helpp!!

no problem! everyone's been so helpful on this forum so I'm glad 2 help whenver I can!=)
