I hve been living out of canada for about 8 years now. I have come here for vacations just like I'm here this time too for summer holidays. The issue is that i was wanting to renew my health card this time around but i read they ask you to remain here in the county for at least 3 months but unfortunately i wont be able to do that before dec next year as that is when my studies wl complete. So I'm in a weird situation now as i was hoping to get my card renewed this year somehow.

Any suggestions?

No, you are not eligible to renew your health card until you come back to stay. Eligibility for health care in Canada is based on residing in your province at least 6 months a year.

Yes, I suggest you surrender your health card like you are supposed to unless you are paying Canadian income tax on your global income. Stop trying to abuse the system. You don't live here so you don't get free healthcare. Deal with it.

You will need to buy medical insurance for your trip to Canada if you want coverage.

Here's what I do know:
1) You haven't lived in Canada for 8+ years and are not eligible for healthcare;
2) You want to renew your health card to have an option to receive free healthcare; and
3) i am sick and tired of supporting freeloaders like you.

Did I miss anything? Didn't think so.

That is why I believe Canada should have mandatory emergency medical insurance for all visitors. Many other countries already have this requirement, I don't feel Canadians should be providing free health care to everyone who visits our country.

Kindly explain your situation so folks here can advice you in better way. Frankly, you OP shows you want to abuse the system (i am sure you don't want to), you cannot live more than six month out of province/ Canada in a year to have a health card, unless you are paying resident tax on your income.

People living here and paying taxes get upset as many people (not saying you) enjoy living outside, come back on vacations use our tax money and enjoy all the health benefit - this is wrong and cheating.
