So I know that a medical exam expires after 1 year and that an issued visa will also expire when the medical exam does. However, let's say it takes longer than 1 year to get the permanent resident visa and the visa office requests that you get the medicals redone, then you receive the visa only 2 months after your new medical exam has been done. In this case, will the visa still expire 1 year from the new medical exam date, giving you 10 months to enter the country, or will they just make it expire 6 months from the visa issue date?

1 year from the date of the new medical.

I heard that they dont issue a visa thats going to expire later than 6 months from the issuing date. Is that not true then or does it depend on certain factors? Im just really desperate to have the visa's expiration date be as delayed as possible and not sure what the best way to do that is.

What you heard is wrong. People have been issued COPRs will only a couple weeks of validity. Mind in those cases the Visa office usually contacts them and asks if they can leave in a couple of weeks.
