Hi,

Can someone please tell me if the experience I gained while I was transitioning from Student permit to PGWP is counted towards Express Entry.

I was searching the forums and most of them talked about being in implied status between jobs but I wasnt able to find an answer while going from Student to Work permit.

Thanks,

Implied status happens when your permit (work, student, visitor...) is expired and as you've applied for another permit (before the expiry date of your previous permit), you are waiting for CIC response. The other permit might be a different one than the previous you had.

Example :
you have a work permit until September 30th
you apply for a student permit before September 30th
you have an answer from CIC on December 15th

Implied Status would be between October 1st to December 15th and you'd still be able to work during this period of time (if you had a work permit of course !).

Hope it helps !

Hi @dolexd

I had the same concern, As I received my PGWP 4 months after I applied and I was working full time during that duration.

So all the time you have worked is counted after the close date of you College/University (I got this info from this forum I don't remember the thread, also a friend of mine confirmed the same with his IRCC Consultant, who created his EE profile).

Hope that helps :-)

It counts. I had the same issue and just had my application approved for PR using experience from the implied status.

Thanks guys. It helps. I am just 2 weeks short of 1 year work experience then. Hopefully, the next round I can apply for it.

Almost everyone who has gotten a PGWP asks this question - it is asked dozens of times each week, so you might want to search again.

It can be counted, but you should submit a Letter of explanation with proof of your date of graduation (e.g. diploma, transcript, or letter from the registrar).
