Exit clearance/police certificate

Dear all,
One week ago we received a letter from canada embassy Islamabad asking us to contact IOM Islamabad, pakistan to arrange our exit clearance, i contacted IOM they say it will take 4 to 5 months which is a very long time.
Anyone know why it takes this long and what is the process?
Any information is appreciated

Now I also faced with same situation and IOM said approximately 3 months so could you please share your experience with me and when the interior ministry in Islamabad would contact me for police checks......?
Any information would be highly appreciated. Thnx.
