Exchange of USA DL with Canadian G License in the province Ontario

Can someone , guide me , while exchange of USA DL with Canada G License , Do we need to provide a certified Driver Record in a sealed envelope ???

or is fine if I show the copy of my Driving record that has been printed online ????


Please help who has already gone thru this process

I did mine yesterday. I exchanged a NY DL for a G license and got credited with all driving history from US. Driving records abstract must be certified but does not have to be in a sealed envelope if you wanted to get credited for the total time you were a US driver. They won’t accept printed online copies.

Also , I have been in 3 different states do i need to obtain from each state ??? or is it just enough to obtain from my current state were i reside ..

Please advise

Go to the DMV website for every state you held a DL and search for driving abstract. Get a complete history driving abstract.

Well that depends on the center and the person I guess. I did not carry my abstract and the lady at the counter was able to access my NY DL history from the system. And using that I was issued a G license on the spot.

They will issue the license without the abstract but you won’t be credited with your previous driving history. They were able to access my file as well but would not credit my history without my life time abstract. You will probably notice when it’s time to get a quote from an insurance company

I got the credit for my driving history. Recently, I got my DL extract for the Ontario License, and it shows the original issue date as the one which was on my NY DL. And if they could not credit you with your driving history, then you won't be issued a G license. Like I said, it varies from center to center and person to person.
