ETA: not sure if there's a loophole

I need to travel to Japan to see my father due to him having a stroke. Cheapest flight I found was through air canada but am a bit perplexed by their visa requirements. I still am a Japanese citizen with a Japanese passport, however I am also a US green card resident.

Being a Japanese citizen I do not require an ETA but since I also live in the U.S as a permanent resident I would need an ETA.

So must I declare this information?

Your eTA will be linked to your passport. As you hold a passport issued by Japan, you need an eTA to transit through Canada. Your US green card won't change this.
