Hi everyone,

My wife is a US citizen in the process of becoming a PR in Canada. Last month she received her open work permit. We didn't pay close attention to it because we were on holiday, but now that she's taken a closer look we noticed her birthday is wrong the permit itself. It's got the 25th instead of the 15th. This is (we are almost positive) an IRCC error as we went and looked at our application form and the birthday is listed correctly in all the places it's entered.

She also applied and received a SIN with this permit and her other ID (passport) so clearly someone didn't pay close attention there either

My question is: does having to send back the original copy invalidate her current work permit? Can she still apply and work in Canada while they are amending the error? I haven't been able to find anything that says either yes or no online. Already sent an email to our lawyer but as it's the long weekend we don't know when we'll hear back. Thanks in advance!!
