Hi,

I need urgent advice on entry requirements for a PR holder. Currently my PR card is valid until Feb 2025. I have not been able to live more than 4 to 5 days since working in US and have not been able to find a job in Canada. I heard if 3 years are past, and we have not been able to live there then they are not allowing to enter Canada. Does that hold true? please advise it is very important.

Also, please advise till when we can enter without losing the PR status.

Please help.

Thanks,
Nimish

Definitely NOT true.

If the border officer suspects/determines that you have not met the R.0. (Residency requirement) to maintain your PR status, they could create a report that could revoke your PR status, but that doesn't happen overnight. Even if they do, you cannot be denied entry into Canada.

Thanks for the response.

Does that mean am i allowed to enter?. Also i am currently looking for a job. Till when at max i can eneter Canada. Any suggestion pls

You will be allowed into Canada but you may be reported for failing to meet the residency requirement if you are outside of Canada for too long, which may trigger the loss of your PR status.

If you don't want any risk of losing your PR status, then you need to move to Canada permanently before you have been outside of Canada for 3 years since your landing date.

This is little confusing now from the above thread where in it was mentioned that it can be reported and takes time and entry is allowed. Now per the latest thread if not entering before 3 years may result in loss of pr status, still if we are in canada then what would happend if pr status is lost and we are in canada. Will it result in deportation?

Short answer, eventually, yes.

If you can work remotely for that US company, perhaps you can live in Canada.
