You can go to Canada early. I wouldn't go any earlier that 2 months.
However keep in mind that you cannot start working until your classes start full time in January. So you will need to bring enough additional money with you to support yourself without working until your classes start.

Mid October is quite an early arrival. I would make sure you have at least $3K. If you can only show $2K - then wait another month before you come.
When did u apply for the visa and what is the issue with bringing $ 3k you could save them for later.

It is a risk because you cannot work and you will be expected to support yourself until classes start providing for both food and living accomodation hence making an allowance for at least 3000 CDN for nearly 3 months by time your classes start.
Even if you said you are staying with a friend for free that would only be your word plus as said arriving too early tends to create suspicion somebody may start working ahead of class.
Add to above even if you only have 3k arrive too early and spend that in the 2.5 months there is no guarantee that you will get a part time job, then what ? You should plan to have access to more than what you are suggesting, maybe you do maybe you do not but should not under estimate living costs especially in a big city if that is your destination
