Entrance exam - Gr. 11 & Gr. 2 children

Thanks for your continous support. Need your advise.
I could land into Toronto only by mid september. I need to put my 2 kids in Gr. 11 and Gr. 2. Will there be any entrance exam for these children. How to approach public schools. What preparation my kids have to do prior to landing Canada.
