Entering USA while on Canadian work permit

Hi all,
I am on an open work permit in Canada. I have a Sri Lankan passport. My anadian employee wants me to go to USA for a training there and the HR said that I will only need to present their invitation letter to the USA border and they will let me in to USA without applying prior visa. Will this work?

This is not a Canadian immigration question. You are asking if you can enter the US so ask on US immigration forum.

No. You need to apply for a visa in advance.
