Hi guys,

i have a few questions and im confused because no one was able to solve my problem yet. :-[
Im from germany and im going to spend a year in canada with a working holiday visa (IEC).
My problem is, that i booked a one-way flight to Los Angeles to spend a few days there and heading to vancouver a week later by bus. So i have no flight back to germany but a valid work permit for canada and valid travel documents confirming that i will leave the us.
I also have an esta from 2015 which is still valid.
My questions are:
Can I enter the United States without any problems? Is a work permit in Canada a proof that I will leave the usa?
Thanks for helping

I dont think anyone here can guarantee anything although doubt the IEC letter of introduction will do much with US CBP they will be more interested in seeing proof you will leave the US such as onward travel plans. On the other hand CBP may just ask purpose of trip, how long you staying without even asking to see any return or onward travel no way to predict.

You will also possibly need to convince the airline when you board in Germany that having a one way ticket to the US is ok with them as some airlines need convincing.

Having said all above plenty of people have done the same and is generally all down to how positive an individual is answering any questions and convincing no intention to stay in the US but leaving in a week or so.

thanks for your answer. so i have to try to convince the airline and later the border officers that i will leave the us by showing them my travel documets to canada and my work permit. maybe i have to call the us Embassy in berlin or the us customs and border protection :S
