Hi,

I have a valid study permit but my (Canadian) visa expires when I want to return back to the US. Is it possible that I go the US and return back to Canada only by having a valid study permit ?

Thanks

It might be possible to re-enter Canada without a TRV if you only travel to the US. Regardless the CBSA officer might very well deny it as a valid TRV is expected at all times.

Hi

Yes, provided you only go to the US.

Expired temporary resident visa

You can request to return to Canada on your original temporary resident visa, even if it is expired, if:
- you will only visit the U.S. or St. Pierre and Miquelon; and
- you will return to Canada before the end of your approved stay in Canada.

The permit is irrelevant in this situation.

You need a valid TRV to re-enter Canada.

Incorrect, see above.
