Hi All,

My husband is a contact worker in Canada he is on a 2 year contract with his company, I am planning to sponsor him sometime soon once we receive the FBI certificate which and it has been a month now.. My question is when I submit my application to sponsor him as my husband will be still be able to work? He wants to go back to University soon as well. What can we do?

Thanks!!

He won't be able to hold his work permit and a study permit at the same time. He could get a study permit, then after six months get an off campus work permit good for 20 hours per week.

He can keep his work permit (or study if he gets one) until a decision is made. Once he lands, he would be free to study and work full time.

Thanks for the reply!!

So just to confirm he can continue working while the application is being processed then? I am planning to apply Outland while he is here on his 2 year work contract. Say if the process were extremely delayed and his contract is up.. He wouldn't be able to renew his work permit while our sponsor application is still in process?

Thanks!!

There's no reason he can't renew a work permit as long as he meets the basic work permit requirements.
