Hi folks,

My wife is currently studying inside Canada, and recently I found that I am eligible to apply a Open Work Permit under special pathway, therefore I applied for me and her (SOWP).

But , my wife now changing her mind and would like to complete her study, so I am considering to withdraw her SOWP. There are four questions I would like to ask.

1) Could I withdraw her application of SOWP and apply a extension of her Study permit immediately? (As she need to submit a proof to school before the date she enroll the class, 1st MAY)

2) As we submit the applications under my account, could we withdraw her application only instead of my application?

3) Do we need to give reasons to IRCC for withdrawing application? and can my wife submit the same application in the future?

4) If student take 150 days unauthorised leave from school, what are the negative impacts except of the eligibility to apply PGWP? (eg PR application)

Thank you very much for your help!!!!

Has your wife been studying full-time continuously? You say You were never guaranteed an OWP you were just able to apply. You’d also only qualify if your spouse was studying. How did your wife qualify for an OWP? Maybe you mean PGWP but you also state that she hasn’t completed her studies.

Thank you for your reply,
My wife had been still studying continuously. I was a SOWP under her study permit. But after I came to canada, there is a special policy only for my country and I am now eligible to apply a Open Work Permit ( I become a main applicant for that special OWP and my wife become SOWP).
