I am marrying my fiancé in October, in Canada. I am British. None of my British family or friends are going to be attending the wedding for various reason such as expensive flights, work etc. Will this effect my Outland visa application at all?

I am currently waiting to be selected for IEC also, which (I heard) could be a possibility beginning October when the window opens. Will this application have any impact on my spousal sponsorship?

1. It's not ideal, but explain why they were unable to attend. If it's possible, get them to write letters saying that they are aware of your relationship and support it, etc. If they have met your fiance, that would be ideal.

2. IEC has no impact on a spousal sponsorship.

My fiancé has been to England and stayed at home with me and my parents for the duration of her stay. If I get letters would that make the application slightly better or would that be a massive help? Either way I will get them. My family and friends have been involved with my fiancé and I on social media (mainly Facebook) and I have photographs of my fiancé with my family and friends. Would this be solid evidence that they approve or will I require more?

Thanks for your help

That sounds good.

As a British-Canadian couple, the burden of proof is lower than many higher-risk countries, where there is a much higher incidence of marriage fraud. Provided you have a solid relationship profile and proof of relationship, you shouldn't have any issues.

In terms of proof of relationship we have some solid evidence such as plane tickets from visits, many photographs together, over 1 million messages sent to and from each other, phone records etc. It's a huge relief reading that so thank you also.

How long have you been in a relationship? Have you lived together? (Note that you don't actually have to answer these). This also helps your case if you have been together for a while, and if you dated or lived together before getting married. If you had met online and got married on your first meeting, then you would have to work harder to prove your relationship.
Having multiple visits and meeting each other's families are both really good.

not sure where you heard IEC is opening in October as the 2016 season is closed now and 2017 may not open until December or January nobody really knows until closer to the time. So unless you are on some foraml waitlist.

Also re your other post a million messages ? When did you have any time to sleep, work or eat ?

Yeah 1 million is a lot but I'm not even exaggerating in the slightest. They've accumulated over almost 5 years now and that's from speaking solidly all day, every day.

As for the IEC opening, it was my agent who told me about that. I don't know how good they are at their job or how much they know but they emailed me explaining that it's open again in October. If it is then that's great but if not I'm no further forward

Agents have no inside information or influence on when the Canadian Government does anything and to be honest IEC has never opened for the following year as early as October that I am aware. There would be plenty of people pleased if it did.

By all means when does open apply for it as do not believe there are any rules saying you cannot apply for both IEC and sponsorship but as other post says as soon as married get your sponsorship application together and submitted given the quoted processing times not that good at the moment but they do go up and down. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/index.asp

Also as others will recommend submit as an outland application from UK as opposed to inland which will take a lot longer and has restrictions. Ultimately decision is yours which to follow so suggest lots of internet searches and feedback from people,on here who been there before.

CB1995, if I could offer a suggestion, don't rely on IEC. If you wanna be together you need to choose the best and quickest route. Get your meds and police checks done as soon as possible, send everything in after you're married and you could be a permanent resident by April 2017. I'm not saying I know that for sure but your situation is similar to mine. I married by wife in Alberta in October 2015 and we applied for sponsorship in May 2016 (we would have applied sooner but I was employed in a job that paid good money and I wanted to save as much as possible to go towards our future). A photocopy of my passport was requested a couple of weeks ago and I'm currently waiting for Confirmation Of Permanent Residence so it can happen if that short length of time.

You can even apply outland (i.e. from the UK) whilst residing in Canada together as you can request temporary residence for a period of up to 6 months and extend said residence 1 month prior to the end date. I didn't do this but if we had to do the whole thing again I definitely would. Being apart sucks but when there's a way that we don't have to be apart I'd choose it in a heartbeat.

Let us know what you decide, I'm always online a few times a day and I'll be more than happy to support you.

Take care and good luck.
