Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi everyone,

I've nearly completed the full application post-ITA. I just have a few final details I'm unsure about and would really appreciate help!

1) I did a post-grad 1 year course at a Uni. I finished the academic year in summer 2010 but deferred 2 exams which were taken in Jan of 2011. I received my diploma certificate dated May 2011. However my WES ECA certificate has the end as 2010. Which date should I go with?

2) I have received reference letters from all employers now. One of them is a big law firm in the UK and their HR policy is not to provide a breakdown of responsibilities. They have simply stated under the heading Responsibilities: “Those associated with being a Paralegal in a Claimant Personal Injury department of a national law company”.

(Therefore they have confirmed I was a paralegal and in a round-about way confirmed my responsibilities are those which are typical. I’ve asked my old boss for a letter but he says his hands are tied by HR. Will this workaround suffice? Everything else is there: title, hours, dates, salary, signed and on letter-head paper.)

3) My Visitor Visa runs out at the end of April. I don't have work permit currently. Once my application is submitted is there a way I can stay in Canada until completion (implied statues etc) or would I have to go home until PR card received? I put my Country of Residence as Canada on the application and my current address is my girlfriend's address here.

Thanks in advance

Re: Final few questions before submission - please help!

Sorry to bump this. I'm just wondering if anyone can help particularly with point 2 because I've read through the forum in a lot of detail and can't seem to find a scenario where HR have written such a work-around type statement. I don't know if this covers me or not?

Hoping to submit the application and good to go on nearly everything else so this is just the last hurdle!

Thanks!

Maybe, it is not ideal by any means so it's hard to guarantee that this will work as there are no actual duties included in the reference letter to match to your NOC.

I can see it going both ways.

Thanks DelPiero!

I'm not comfortable with it either so I will have to try my best to ask my manager or ex-colleagues who still work there if they can create a letter-head add-on for me.

I can't located my employment contract, pay slips or tax records as this was back in 2010-2012 so the only other option is maybe HR still have a copy of my contract on file and I can request this.

Do you think if I kindly asked HR to add on to the sentence something along the lines "as laid out under NOC 4211 Paralegal and related occupations" that will give it more of a chance?

Thanks again!

That's better but again, not ideal.

The best you can do is (just like you said) is to ask a manager or colleague to write a declaration of your duties and responsibilities and notarize this. No need to add letterhead, plain paper will do.

Is there any value of including a CV with the proof of employment docs. I understand that CV not accepted but could it help CIC understand our work history?
