Employment Insurance and Sponsorship

Hello! I get laid off for 2 months of the year (July and August), and I want to collect EI for those 2 months. Will collecting EI effect me sponsoring my husband? We also have a 18 month old son, who is Canadian.

No. EI is not welfare (Income Assistance is, but not EI), so you can collect EI for 2 months and it won't cancel your sponsorship. However, if you have not been approved for the first stage, then you might want to add information on how you plan on supporting your family. If the first stage is already done, then don't worry about it.
