Hi Everyone,

My friend is in the process of discussion with an employer in Canada regarding a new role based in Canada. She has worked for the same organization in her home country in the past (Same group)

Would appreciate if someone can guide me around this:

1) If this prospective employer in Canada is willing (things are looking good at the moment since she has past experience with the same group) to sponsor her to work, what would the nest steps be and how long does it take?

2) What kind of a work permit would it be? temporary/permanent?

3) Would the work visa need to be renewed after some time

4) How soon can she apply for PR if she works and lives here?

Thank you.

1) The employer most likely needs to go through LMIA process which will likely take a few months. Assuming the LMIA is approved, she would then apply for a closed work permit tied to that specific employer which would take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months of additional time to process.

2) All work permits are temporary.

3) Yes.

4) As soon as she qualifies. She will need to research the various immigration programs to understand what the requirements are.
