Hey!

Just a few questions.

I'm planning to emigrate to Canada in Oct/Sept this year and get an apprenticeship in either Plumbing or as a Joiner. I've filled out an application on immigration unit and waiting for them to get back to me. I'm from Fife,Scotland,22 years old, have Standard grade qualifications from high school and am currently working as a Fisherman.

1.Is emmigrating to Canada and getting a visa etc easier by going through a company like immigration unit?

2.Which city is it easier to get work?

3.How much money should I plan on taking with me?would £10000 be enough?

4.Whats the cost of living compared to the UK?

5.What is the 'Points system'?

Any help on these questions would be greatly appreciated :)

Danny.

Ah right,I was under the impression that if I secured a job I could go to college and do an apprenticeship over there?can that be done?

You will find it hard to get a job unless you have the qualifications.

You are young and I would suggest that you either become qualified in the UK in a trade or you might want to look at going to Canada as an international student. Look at some tech schools in Canada for programs and apply for one that you are interested in. In many cases, you can easily get a work permit for the number of years that you have studied in Canada. For example, if you were enrolled in a two year program, you will be given a two year work permit upon graduation. If I were you, I would look at programs in power engineering and instrumentation.

One school to look at is NAIT in Edmonton or SAIT in Calgary.

You might also be able to get a work permit while studying, and you could probably work illegally during your studies and I doubt that you would be caught.

At your age, you might just be lucky enough to find a Canadian lass who will be willing to be your life parnter.

I think you will find the process much easier if you look at moving to canada as a student and I'm sure all will be fine.

Good luck to you.
