I’m kind of embarrassed to be asking this question here, but yesterday I gave my IELTS exam and did fairly well on Listening and Reading (based on my assumptions I guess I should be scoring a Band score of 8 in these sections). Anyways, what worries me is the writing task#2. I spent most of time on Task#1, with only 25 mins remaining for Task#2. I hurried in to complete it on time, but because I panicked, I used the words in the wrong context.
My task was-
People usually prefer not to raise their kids in the city, but would rather raise them in the countryside.

I wrote well, used appropriate examples, but used the word city instead of countryside and vice versa, due to being in a panic mode and due to rushing into the task. I did realize at the end, but if I was to erase the word city and replace it with countryside, I would have to move other words further too, due to spacing issue (hope I just made sense).

My question to all you seniors is that:
From your experience, how much do you think I would lose due to this stupid negligence considering this has more weightage. Would I score the minimum??

Hello,
This is a very big mistake and it's going to be hard for you to get a good score.

Even to get 6 in Writing, both tasks should be good enough so it seems difficult to me.

20 minutes should be given to task 1 & 40 minutes to task 2.

Anyways, good luck for your IELTS result.

As long as you score enough to qualify in IELTS and also meet the 67 point system criterion, nothing to worry. Alternately, if you sense challenges with either one or both criterion, you could always take the test another time. Good luck with your endeavors.
