Spousal visa doesn’t exist. Sounds like you applied for a visitor visa for both your spouse and his/her child. There is no guarantee it will be approved. Having a spouse visit you it quite difficult because IRCC assumes they are not true visitors and want to enter Canada and apply for inland sponsorship. Did your spouse provide proof of longterm employment, their own savings, property ownership, other ties to her/his home country, proof of previous international travel especially to the US, UK, Australia, etc. Have you already applied for family sponsorship? If approved are you aware that the child will need a study permit to attend school and need to pay international fees.
