Will the protesting and other issues in Egypt help or hurt me and my fiance? My plan is to go there in April to marry him.

Hi KSCM,

I think it is safe to assume that the protests going on in Egypt right now may effect the timeline in which physical mail reaches the embassy in Cairo however the protests should not have an adverse effect on your sponsorship or permanent resident application. The only other issue that may arise is the timeline for approval if the embassy is closed until the protests come to an end. I found this link for you, if there are any closures they should post it on this site. Hope this helps. :)

It should only effect you if like the poster said if mail delivery is interrupted and unfortunately if Canada consider's the situation too dangerous and closes the Embasy until further notice. This happend recently in Abijan because of the situation with the presidential elections. They have closed that embassy and following nearly a month, were able to set up the Dakar office for files that were already in process. But in the beginning they suspended all work for PRs and move non- resident work to another Embasy. I pray for everyone in Egypt and hope there is no delays for anyone, and futher to that, that everyone remains safe....
