Hello,

My partner and I are considering our options in relation to Spousal/ Family Class Sponsorship.

It looks as if Outland would be best suited for our situation. I just have a query concerning Elementary and High School education provision for my children.
Basically, if we apply Outland and my children and I visit my partner in Canada for 6 months as PR applicants, would we need to pay for their schooling?

If we visit, it would be our intention to extend our stay after 6 months, as we would have implied PR status while our sponsorship application is processed.

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately none of us will be able to answer that question. Technically (by the books), your children should have to pay tuition until they officially become permanent residents. You should contact the schools your children are planning to attend to find out how your children will be treated with regards to fees. The experience on these forums is that individual schools seem to make their own decisions with regards to the fees. Don't contact the board - contact the individual schools and speak with them.

FYI - applying outland won't give you implied status. You will only have implied status if you apply inland. If you apply outland, you will have to separately extend your visitor status to make sure you are legal in Canada after the six months have passed.

Scylla,
Thank you for your advice. I will contact the local schools directly.
Thank you also, for advising me about extending my 6 month visit. It can be quite confusing!

Kind Regards.
