Good day,

Our agent advised us to get an ECA from WES for Express Entry (NOC 7321 - automotive technician), but when I click on the "ECA Application for IRCC" option there's a note at the bottom that says: "Note: WES does not evaluate occupational or trade qualifications."

1. Why would she advise us to go to a company that doesn't do trades? Or am I being blond and doing something wrong or misunderstanding?
2. Which company can I use? We would like to go to Burlington Ontario..

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

1. I would ask your agent this question. It's possible you may have a bad agent or maybe she didn't give you clear enough instructions.
2. I don't understand this question. Where you plan to settle in Canada is completely irrelevant to the ECA process.

1. WES will evaluate your diploma. It doesn’t evaluate the “trade/apprenticeship” qualifications required to work in the field. Same for those is licensed professions.
2. Where you want to live doesn’t factor in to the ECA process.

I first wanted to make sure I wasn't the being blond and misunderstanding. Agents tend to get very sensitive when you query them. The email she sent had the actual link to the WES website so I doubt I misunderstood her instructions.
The only reason why I mentioned where we would like to settle is because I noticed on other threads (2020 and older) that the replies said the region you wish to settle in determines who you have to use for the ECA? Is this not true?

So we can go ahead with the WES application for the actual certificate (not diploma)?

IMO an agent shouldn't be sensitive if you ask them questions. You are paying them a fee to provide a service and they should be open to all questions. If they aren't, consider dropping that agent.

I'm not aware of any jurisdictional rules as it relates to ECA. Sometimes one ECA org is better than another based on the profession. But where you plan to live in Canada is irrelevant. See the official IRCC info here:

ECA has nothing to do with where you want to live. What schools is the certicate for? Do you have a degree/diploma? If not are you eligible for Express Entry with 67 points?
