Hi all,

I landed in Canada as PR in 2015. I charged with DUI (Impaired driving) in 2017. My charge is "summary" charge and not hybrid or indictable. Based on my research and reading the Immigration Act, if you have summary charge, you don't have to wait 5 years to get a pardon and then apply for citizenship.

Even going trough immigration application form CIT 0002, it clearly asks applicants about "indictable" charges.

This area of immigration law is very confusing. I read many thread and websites. But I couldn't find any clear answer for it. And I don't trust lawyers in this area as I think they are more concerned about their business, than you! I hope I can find someone here who has been into this process and shares valuable experience with others.

I think you need a lawyer more than you need anonymous keyboard warriors like myself. We will give five opinions from two people; lawyers can research case law and give you a solid answer.

Thanks for your reply. You are right, but I am mainly looking for 1) someone who already experience the same situation, OR 2) someone who knows a good lawyer as lots of lawyers out there are businessmen, and not lawyers.
