Hi my name is Jai and I am a student in George Brown College. I am in the graphic design course and started in January 2018. I felt like the course was not of my liking and wanted to change but due to non availability of seats I had to do continue it in the first semester. I just got an offer letter for the September 2018 batch in civil engineering and have to pay the fees by 1st if June to get admission.

I was told by my college that I have untill the 18th of May to drop my program to get a refund. According to my international centre and head, if I want to drop my program, I will have to exit Canada for 1-1.5 months because I cannot stay for more than 90 days without being a full time student on a student visa. My admission in the September course is gauranteed as long as I pay the fees before time.

The international centre and head said that I would not face any issues in returning back to Canada and won't face any issuses in post graduate work permit and Permanent residency.

But on the contrary my agent says that I could face some issues in Permanent residency and could get less points or negative marks for dropping the program. He is urging me to attend the second semester and starting civil engineering in September instead of dropping.

The thing is this course is of no use to me and attending the second semester is a waste of time and money for me.

I have these questions
1) What could be the affects of dropping the May Semester and continuing in September in civil on my Permanent Residency case?

2) Do I have to inform the cic of dropping my course/ and changing it?

Please answer as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance
